Keeping Facade

The façade acts as a veneer to disguise it's interior. The images in this book explore the duplicitous nature of existing with façade and the facade as an action or object.

Allison Baker completed a B.A. in Gender Studies and Human Sexuality as well as a B.F.A. in Sculpture from Indiana University. She is currently a Graduate at the Rhode Island School of Design pursuing a Masters in fine art-sculpture. The seed that germinates her work is often a feeling of pathos, a loose feeling, or gesture. This kernel grows and becomes more nuanced and complicated with theoretical/feminist readings.  She explores the disparity between her lofty ideals and the reality of her life and is interested in confronting her own profound hypocrisy. With her work she wrestles with her presence within an ambiguous state, the grey area between desire and action.

Gail R. Dodge (b.1985) is a multi-media artist working with video, performance and the fabrication and manipulation of traditional and nontraditional sculptural materials. Gail received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona in 3D and Extended Media in the Spring of 2013. She will complete her Masters of Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design in Sculpture in Spring of 2015.
