Synecdoche is a small press based at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. We publish and distribute serious literary work by emerging writers. We look for distinctive voices – but authenticity and rigor are more important to us than innovation for innovation’s sake. We tend to publish book-length works, which typically have a print run of 1,000. The size and infancy of our operation means that our taste is fluid; what endures is our interest in quality, compelling writing. Submissions are rolling. We are distributed by Small Press Distribution.
Synecdoche, noun: a figure of speech by which a part is put for the whole, the whole for a part, the species for the genus, the genus for the species, or the name of the material for the thing made.
